Social Calendar – 19 Sept. 2009

Greetings all!  From time to time, we here at The Minneaplitan, take on the role of Cruise Director in our hope to steer you to the cool events happening here in our lovely Minneapolis.  And today is no different.  So without further ado, here are the events and things are intriguing us today:

  • One of the best events in town is today, the block party for B Girl Be at Intermedia Arts.  After a hiatus, this much-loved celebration of ladies in hip hop is this weekend but the big party is today.  Personally, this is one of our favorite events, and a great touchstone to Minneapolis’ thriving hip hop scene. For more info, go here.
  • Meanwhile, tonight, for those in Northeast, the Northeast Bike Pub Crawl will start tonight at 7pm at Elsie’s.
  • On the other end of the spectrum: Emigrant Theater‘s amazing production of My Name is Rachel Corrie is closing tonight.  Get thee hence to Open Eye Figure Theatre and see Emily Gunyou Halaas‘ kick-ass performance.
  • Speaking of kick-ass performances: Ripple Entertainment presents their anniversary show at First Avenue featuring Jeremy Messersmith, Chris Koza, Greycoats, and (according to Ripple honcho Paul Gillis) a few surprises.  Doors are at 6pm.
