Cloud Cult Pulls out of The Current’s Birthday Party

This is sad news indeed.  We just heard from our friends at The Current that Cloud Cult will not play The Current’s Birthday Party at First Avenue this Friday.

From the statement the band released:

Cloud Cult has announced the cancellation of the band’s upcoming performances at First Avenue (January 21) and Lutsen (February 5). On Thursday, Cloud Cult’s Craig Minowa was hospitalized with heart issues. Although the condition necessitates a temporary hiatus from performances, doctors are suggesting a non-invasive heart surgery would likely be performed in the next few weeks to bring permanent remedy to the problem. We apologize for any complications and we look forward to returning with more energy than ever in the coming months.

We here at The Minneapolitan (devoted Cloud Cult fans one and all) wish Craig the speediest of recoveries.

However, the show must go on, and in a second display of artists jumping in for friends (you will recall that Brother Ali is jumping in for Atmosphere as Slug is on the mend from knee surgery) Trampled by Turtles have joined the line up for Friday’s sold out show along with the previously announced Free Energy, Jeremy Messersmith, and Roman di Luna.
