Sunday Funday Sunday

Oh sweet chickens, while we get our post together on the opening of HAUS salon, we need to take a moment to tell you about three things you need to do today:

  • First off, head to the American Indian Festival.  While the talent line-up is staggering, the best part is that it serves as a very visible boostering of the East Franklin neighborhood.  For more info, read this article on Twin Cities Daily Planet.
  • Meanwhile, going westward towards Lyndale Avenue, and go to Open Streets Minneapolis.  For today, Lyndale Avenue from 22nd Street to 42nd Street will be a ciclovía (basically a car-free boulevard) from 10am – 2pm today. Musicians, bike enthusiasts, yogis, and more will all be sashaying up and down the avenue.
  • Meanwhile, on West 29th Street, it’s a happy day indeed as today is opening day of the Uptown Market.  Not only is it something desperately needed in the area but it’s also a who’s who of food vendors, including the darling of the moment Hola Arepa, a new Latin street food truck put together by  Birk Stephan Grudem (he of Bradstreet Crafthouse fame) and Christina Nguyen (she of Design Collective).  Minnesota Monthly‘s preview article has all the details.
  • And tonight, at the State Theater, it’s the Northside Benefit with a mindblowing line-up of talent.  Go To This!!
